Reflection

For portfolio piece 6 a video was produced using Windows Movie Maker v 2.6.  The piece will be used to teach a lesson on the Functions of The Family. The video has twenty-five slides which contain the use of still pictures, music, animations, a title, captions and credits. The video was then uploaded to my blog.

The use of videos in the classroom is a good idea as it not only will generate interest and stimulate imagination, but it can help to stimulate critical thinking skills. Added to that, it can be used to give students a focused viewing assignment.  After viewing, students can discuss/explain something about the video.  Students can also be asked to write any thought that comes to mind after viewing the video.

Preparing this piece proved a little challenging. I noticed that whenever I made changes to the pictures either by lengthening or shortening them the animations and captions became off set. I solved this problem by readjusting/shifting the captions icon to the position where I wanted it.

I think the piece could be improved if a video which focuses on the structure of the family is added.
