I think blogging as a teaching tool is an excellent idea.
- It would allow for students to discuss topics outside the classroom where they can share their thoughts and opinions and especially for those who have difficulty expressing themselves while in class.
- I would use the blog to inform my students of home work assignments and to send out short notices to inform them of an event etc.
- Also to allow students to respond to thought provoking questions
In my opinion blogging would improve the quality of my instruction as it would give each student the perfect opportunity to read and write. Something I find that they do not like to do. It would also help to develop their cognitive skills and to build on their social skills. Most importantly by blogging it would improve their learning.
It is definitely a great way to interact with students every hour of every day! Their are a lot of advantages of the blog with just one disadvantage that I can think about! View my for the disadvantage.
ReplyDeleteYes Mariel I think so too. The blog is a very good tool to use outside of the classroom
DeleteThe students will be able to share creative new ideas and their learning experiences.IT can be used to post reflections on class lessons so the teacher can access the students learning abilities.
ReplyDeleteAlso to check to see if students understand the content of the lesson.
I agree Orecia. Also students who are afraid to participate in class discussions will feel more comfortable to do so here.
DeleteI find it interesting that you mentioned the "perfect opportunity to read and write" because we take it sometimes for granted that these skills have been achieved. Since they have to make a contribution, it pushes the student to ask themself if they fully comprehend what has been said and can in turn give a well thought out response, which is not always easy to do.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Amanda. From my own experience in the clssroom, students don't like to read and write.
Deleteit is truly a magnificent tool; it will facilitate individuals learning, and bring a form of excitement throughout the learning process. students will be able to express themselves, share interesting videos, articles and websites. it will enhance the teacher student relationship as students will have a form a classroom setting that they can control
ReplyDeleteYes Joshuanette the blogg really seems like an exciting tool to use with students and I think that the students themselves will enjoy it.
